Anyone who practices yoga regularly knows that no matter how much you take care of your yoga mat, it needs to be cleaned regularly. Sweat isn't the only thing that creates a breeding ground for bacteria on a yoga mat; dirt from hands and feet can also accumulate there. And if you use your mat outdoors, regular cleaning is simply unavoidable.
Making your own cleaner is super easy and doesn't require much. However, before using it, you should quickly check with the manufacturer of your yoga mat to see if essential oils are safe for use on their mat. Not all materials can tolerate them.
You will need the following ingredients for the spray:
- 60ml witch hazel hydrolate (witch hazel water)
- 120ml water (distilled or boiled and cooled)
- 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
- 10 drops of peppermint essential oil
- 200ml spray bottle
Simply put the ingredients into a spray bottle , shake well and you're done :)
Application
Spread your yoga mat out on a non-sensitive surface and spray it with the cleaner.
Leave to soak in for a few minutes and then wipe with a damp cloth.
Happy Yoga Flow :)
