Plastic-free hair ties that are not only good for the environment, but also made under fair conditions and look good too? That and much more are Kooshoo's hair ties.
The crochet hair tie is an original KOOSHOO design — the only one of its kind on the market. Sculptural, eye-catching, and instantly recognizable.
Made in Japan by fourth-generation rope makers using specialized equipment, it tells the story of artisanal craftsmanship.
The looped organic cotton structures distribute the hold over a larger surface area instead of concentrating pressure at one point. No crease. No tension headache. No hair breakage at the point of attachment. It grips through surface contact rather than tight tension.
They are made from 52% certified organic cotton and 48% natural rubber.
The scrunchies are hand dyed with plant-based dye.
The packaging consists of cardboard and a small thread to secure the hair ties.
Produced under fair trade conditions in a family business in Japan.
Koshoo is a family business from Canada and Australia (Norfolk Island). They place great importance on ensuring sustainability throughout their entire production chain. Their dyeing plants in Los Angeles and India are powered by solar energy. Kooshoo donates a large portion of its profits to charitable causes. They ensure that workers are fairly paid and support traditional craft techniques such as block printing.
