Washbag - Guppyfriend

With the Guppyfriend you can easily collect the microplastics from your laundry. Put your synthetic garments in the washing bag, add other non-synthetic textiles and wash as usual (more on this under "Use").

According to the Fraunhofer Institute UMSICHT, on average 86% fewer fibers in synthetic clothing break off when washing with the laundry bag. The fibers that break off are deposited in the corners of the wash bag after washing and can be easily removed and disposed of.

Put synthetic textiles in the GUPPYFRIEND laundry bag before machine washing.
Place the laundry in the closed bag in the washing machine. Add other, non-synthetic, textiles and wash as usual.
Remove the wet garment from the GUPPYFRIEND wash bag.
Remove the remaining fibers from the inside of the filter fabric by hand and dispose of with the residual waste.


When washing with the GUPPYFRIEND wash bag, there may be an imbalance during the spin cycle. To prevent damage to the washing machine, the spin cycle is often ended automatically or the speed is reduced. This can result in your laundry coming out of the washing machine very wet.

To avoid this, it is important to always put the GUPPYFRIEND wash bag in the laundry drum with additional items of clothing without synthetic fibers or with another GUPPYFRIEND wash bag. This will prevent imbalance and your washing machine should spin as usual again.

The Guppyfriend wash bag is made of 100% untreated, recyclable polyester (PET), which can withstand the high stresses and strains of doing laundry. So it does not produce any microplastic itself.
