The “Purple Queen” French bean is a variety that can be harvested early, just 60 days after sowing.
The 14-16 cm large, purple pods contain a brown grain with a size of 8-10 mm, which has a delicate, slightly buttery taste. This stringless variety is high-yielding and easy to harvest.
Suitable for the balcony garden.
Sow from mid-May to mid-July in rows 40-50 cm apart.
Place 1 grain every 5-8 cm approx. 1 cm deep (never too deep!). "Beans need to hear the bells ringing."
Protect seeds from the bean fly with a fleece or net.
Chop later and lightly mound the plants twice.
GARDENING TIP: Before sowing, soak the seeds in lukewarm chamomile tea for 12 hours.
This variety was developed for the very specific requirements of professional vegetable growing and is produced by a partner of Zollinger Bio called Gautier Semences. At this family business, taste is the main criterion in breeding. Gautier varieties are of course also suitable for hobby gardening.
