The chive variety "Karl der Grosse" is an easy-to-grow and care for herb. In cooking, the stems are often used as a garnish or to give salads, omelets, or soups a mild onion flavor.
The purple flowers are also edible and can be used to decorate food or even to make flavored vinegar.
Once chives are established, they require little care and can even be grown in pots on the balcony or terrace.
It can be harvested from May to November and can grow up to 30 cm tall.

Chives are a perennial plant that has no special requirements regarding water, fertilizer, or sunlight. They thrive in all soil types and are frost-resistant.

Cultivation
To grow chives, sow the seeds between mid-March and mid-May at a depth of 0.5 cm outdoors or in pots. Leave a distance of 10 cm between the rows. As the plants develop, thin them to 5 cm within the row. You can use the thinned plants in the kitchen right away!
It is recommended to protect plants with an insect net to shield them from certain pests.
